International English Examinations
The dream of every parent is a healthy, intelligent and educated child. If we talk about education, it naturally begins with ABC and ... with the English language. Indeed, in today's world English is the hallmark of the adult well-being and success.
There is no doubt that the earlier a child begins to learn English, the better it is for them. After all, what we have learned in our first English lessons, as a rule, is the foundation of our language and stays with us for life. And if you teach English, using modern techniques, stimulating the interest of your child and considering their age and personal characteristics, the study becomes a very challenging, exciting and creative process.
What is the result of learning English? It is the following:
- Your child speaks good English (using this knowledge in practice).
- This knowledge meets international standards. After all, this is the knowledge will later open to your child the door to foreign universities and the world of international communication.
In order to find out if your child is learning English "in the right way" (i.e., whether the knowledge and skills meet international standards) the University of Cambridge established the Cambridge Young Learners English Test.
Cambridge Young Learners English is a great opportunity to not only test knowledge gained by young students, but also a small reward for your polyglot’s effort and zeal! During this examination, all language skills are being analyzed: listening comprehension, speaking, reading and writing.
There are three age-appropriate grade levels: Starters, Movers, Flyers:
“Starters”
This level is designed for children of 7 years old. It confirms the initial level of knowledge.
Exam duration: 40 min.
“Movers”
It is designed for children of 8-11 years old. It confirms the initial level of knowledge when a child’s result is good.
It corresponds to A1 on the Cambridge Scale of Levels.
Exam duration: 60 min.
“Flyers”
It is designed for children of 9-12 years old. It confirms the elementary level of knowledge when a child’s result is good.
It corresponds to A2 on the Cambridge Scale of Levels. It is also a stepping stone for passing the next international exam – KET (Key English Test).
Exam duration: 70 min.
This evaluation system is uncommon. The only marks here are not points but stars. If a child is still at the beginning of their long journey, they will receive the minimum "checkpoints" – three stars. And if a young student has demonstrated outstanding knowledge, they will receive a maximum of 15 stars! All tests are checked by experienced international examiners. The decision is taken on the results of the Cambridge Examinations Syndicate. You can receive the certificate within a month since the test date.
This international system of tests is a fun and interesting introduction to the world of international exams. 310,000 children in 55 countries annually pass these examinations.
The main thing you already know, the least one remains. It is to give your child-prodigy the opportunity to join serious adult world, and for you – to get an objective assessment of your genius knowledge!
With our help, our children will be better than us!
